Cancer Care Ontario Human Touch Awards
TORONTO, April 25 /CNW/ – Six Ontarians whose kindness, compassion and professionalism have made life better for cancer patients were honoured at Cancer Care Ontario’s fifth annual Human Touch Awards in Toronto on April 21.
“These are special individuals, whose caring nature and commitment to patients brings the human touch to patients in the provision of exceptional cancer care,” said Michael Sherar, President and CEO, Cancer Care Ontario. “Their compassion has enhanced the quality of life for cancer patients across Ontario through their recognition of the importance of caring for a patient’s emotional needs in addition to their clinical needs.”
The Human Touch Awards recognize those who have made a difference in patient lives through exceptional compassionate care. The Awards are open to all part-time or full-time health care providers, professionals, and volunteers in Ontario who provide direct patient care at either a regional cancer centre or as part of a Regional Cancer Program.
“The Human Touch Awards reflect our shared mission to do everything we can to enhance the quality of life of people who are living their lives with cancer,” said Martin Kabat, CEO, Canadian Cancer Society, Ontario Division. “All of us are fortunate that we have every day, dedicated health-care professionals and volunteers who become trusted partners with patients in the cancer journey. Every day, they go above and beyond the expected.”
